WHERE TO EAT IN THE OLD TOWN

This was compiled in 2019. COVID has decimated the hospitality industry - Le Mans is no different.

This is where the OLD TOWN Restaurants were - you will find some open in the locations below.

This is the  area up at the level of the Cathedral.  There are a series of quite reasonable restaurants along the Rue Grand and downwards toward the main road - Eperon Aigne.  This is the area known as "Plantagenet City".

THIS IS A 2026 DOWNLOAD to give you an idea of what's out there and where it is. THIS IS THE OLD TOWN or PLANTAGENET CITY. The Restaurants are in old buildings and have lots of character; well worth a visit. Friday Night (the Drivers' Parade Night) is usually rammed so either have a leisurely lunch and walk around the town before the Parade or have an early supper at about 6ish. Either of these to times should get you a table in most places.

Over the 30 odd years I have been going to the 24hr  I have most probably eaten in most of them - BUT as you will know things can change quickly; a chef goes or management have different ideas!
