THE VILLAGE

THE VILLAGE

THE VILLAGE is dead opposite the Museum on the inside of the circuit. From the Main Entrance go through the tunnel and turn right. This area sprawls for about 600m down toward the rear of the pits, with permanent and tented shops and restaurants. You can then go around the back of the pits, past race control (the big multi-storey glazed bit at the finish line) and down through the tunnel to come out airfield side by the ACO shop (which is worth a visit).

The Village has several bars, food outlets and a couple of restaurants (one overlooking the pits, the other overlooks the circuit, just a bit past Track Pit Exit on the main straight). There is fast food, at least a couple of basic sit down meal places and at least one crepe stall. There is also a Champagne Bar which is usually round the side of the village facing the ACO admin offices at the back of the Village, not the one on the start/finish straight).

There are many Manufacturers (Audi (not sure this year), Nissan, Aston Martin) souvenir shops – team shirts, watches, caps etc. This is the place to get the “real/genuine” kit. It is pricey but generally of good quality, as is the ACO shop. There are many other outlets around the Grandstands and on the back way to race control that sell franchised products of varying quality, sometimes at lower prices. These are often “last year's” team kit.

There is a big Circuit TV screen at the end of the Village overlooking the back of the pits. This area is well worth a visit with mad Dutch jazz and marching bands performing on Saturday and at least one tyre/car manufacturer competition (pit stop tyre change or driving simulator). Manufacturers also take stands here so you can see their latest up-market products.
